The Petition for Kwanzaa in The White House was generated on December 24, 2009 in order to express, to the current administration, an interest by the people of the celebration of the African-American holiday, commensurate with the observance of other significant holidays publicly recognized by The President and First Family. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS NOT A PROPOSAL FOR A MANDATE OR BILL OF ANY KIND, and that the petition is not to suggest that other holidays (i.e., Christmas and Hanukkah) should not continue to be observed by American Presidents as well.

The undersigned are citizens of the American and global communities, in support of the celebration of Kwanzaa in addition to current White House celebrations.
